Book Review - DK Eyewitness Travel - Family Guide Paris

I'm hoping to be able to take my family to Disneyland Paris at some point especially after the updates they made to the park, so I grabbed this Paris guide to see what other fun activities we could do and foods to try. DK Eyewitness Travel books are so colorful, and I love the detailed maps and floorplans. The "Lowdowns" sections are really helpful and give you the websites you can access for further research.

Keep in mind that this book was published in 2018 so always be sure to verify information like operating hours and costs ahead of time since Covid negatively impacted many businesses.

There's a great section on Disneyland with lots of information.

This book is broken out by areas which makes it easy to focus your day in a location. Lots of suggestions on dining, etiquette (especially helpful to know when dining in a restaurant as opposed to a cafe), shopping, and ways to entertain your children.

Book Review - Insider's Guide to Williamsburg and Virginia's Historic Triangle

Since I'm planning a trip to Busch Gardens Amusement Park this summer, I thought I'd pick up this guide to see what else I could see while I'm in Williamsburg, Virginia. This travel guide is divided into categories - Accommodations, Entertainment, Shopping, Parks and Recreation, and more.

I like the callout sections that describe some historical tidbits of an area since Williamsburg is so full of history and historical events. There's even detailed information concerning Busch Gardens. Lots of easy-to-read suggestions and even a section if you're considering retirement in the area.

Local public transporation is always recommended. Where to park, where to eat, where to stay in addition to full-color maps. "Best of" suggestions with number of days to visit. Tips for the beaches. Book Review - Moon Boston: Neighborhood Walks, Historic Highlights, Beloved Local Spots by Cameron Sperance

I really like this Moon guide for Boston as it's a little different than other travel guides as it focuses on neighborhoods. And for each neighborhood, they have full-color maps with walkable tours with suggestions, food options, shopping, and more. There are day trip suggestions as well as longer trip ideas. There's a nice Revolutionary Timeline for those interested in the history within the city. You can also find info on public transportation, how to get around, and travel tips.

Review - Florida - Orlando - Epcot - Flower and Garden Festival 2024 - Garden Spots and Photo-Ops

Today's post is a follow-up to my review on the topiaries from Epcot's Flower and Garden Festival (which runs through May 27, 2024). Not only are there fancy topiary works of art throughout Epcot, but there are also little areas of themed garden spots (such as the Spice Garden or the PBandJ Garden). If you're patient enough, you will spot butterflies and other wildlife in addition to the vast colorful plants. Don't miss the limited-time photo-op props for selfies.

Review - Florida - Orlando - Epcot - Flower and Garden Festival 2024 - Topiaries

Walt Disney World hosts several festivals at its Epcot theme park throughout the year but I think the Flower and Garden festival (taking place February 28,2024 through May 27, 2024) is the prettiest if you like flowers. If you suffer pollin allergies, you may want to either avoid this park as it will be bursting full of plants or take an extra dose of allergy medication. Also, there are bees flying around so be careful if you have allergies to stings. There is a first aid available in the back of the pond to the right of the Odyssey building (next to the baby care center).
In addition to the flowers, there are kid-friendly activities (a free playground, a free butterfly garden, a treasure-hunt with Spike the Bee ($)) and special foods and drinks you can purchase throughout the different areas ($-$$). This post will focus on the topiaries and flowers.

When you enter Epcot from the main gate, you will find the new Wish topiary display which makes an amazing picture right in front of the Spaceship Earth ride (the "ball"). There are several Disney Photopass photographers nearby ready to assist you with family pictures, etc.

Many of the topiaries throughout the park feature our Favorite Disney characters:

Other Topiaries feature characters or scenes from our favorite Disney movies. Such as Lion King:

Toy Story:

Bambi:

Peter Pan:

Winnie the Pooh:

Beauty and the Beast

Snow White:

Tiana from Princess and the Frog:

Encanto:

Other Imaginative Characters:

And many of the topiaries are illuminated or spotlighted at Night Time:
